I've had a couple of questions about this.

You've all seen 'base rent due by X date' when you've logged in.   If you see it go overdue, don't worry.  This is deliberate and not an oversight.

The way base rent is now set up, the two-week reminder notice dates from the day you pay the rent.  There is approximately a two week grace period on the rent.  Therefore, if you pay your rent on time or early (which we did for a while) you're actually *penalized* for doing so. 

I realize that makes absolutely no sense, but it's true.  My understanding is that the devs are looking at this system now and there will be revisions to it. 

In the meantime, we are holding onto the rent until the end of the two week grace period.  All that happens after the grace period is that the power to the base is turned off.  No equipment is affected and there are no fines, and the moment the rent is paid, the power comes back up again.

So, if you see an overdue rent notice - don't panic.  Payment will happen and we haven't forgotten about it.  We just don't want to squander hard-earned prestige on a buggy system.
