Issue 8!

This is another one of those posts which has been a long time coming, but here goes.
With I8, CoH gets some much-needed love.
Faultline - We did our tour a couple of months ago of the Faultline area. There is a storyline for this area, and a mission which unlocks a store. I am given to understand that the level range for this area is 15-20; I'll continue to check into that to make sure my information is accurate. I have heard through the grapevine that at least one of these missions includes 3 AVs. Ouch.
So, anyone who's hitting that area and wants some help, let us all know and we'll put it up on the MoTD - I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to try that out!
Safeguard Missions and Police Scanners - Yum, 50 content! And for those of you who have yet to get your illusionists for the Archmage accolade, the 40+ missions include Carnie missions which include a Master Illusionist. No more having to save your Carnie contacts!
Anyone who has ever caught some of the older cop shows on re-runs or late night TNT will immediately notice that the devs have had some fun with these - for example, Detective Freitag in Kings (IIRC, some Scandinavian language for Friday, as in, Joe Friday from Dragnet, get it?) Worth a giggle but also kind of neat.
There is also an accolade (Stouthearted) which can be gained by getting the zone badge for each of the safeguard maps. The following are the areas, levels and the temp power gained. Good news: If you have outleveled a map, you can do it with someone else and still get the badge AND temp power. Spiffy.
The maps are assigned according to level range, not location of your contact. If you talk to a Steel detective contact and you're in the Atlas park levels, your safeguard will be in Atlas. And so on.
Atlas Park - For safeguards run between levels 5-10. Temp power: Raptor pack. (Sky Raider flight pack. VERY nice.)
Kings Row - Levels 11-15. Temp power: Null G Jump Pack. (does just what it seems to do.)
Skyway - Levels 16-20. Temp power: Resuscitation.
Steel Canyon - Levels 21-25. Temp power: Teleport Teammates.
Independence Port - Levels 26-30 Temp power: Movement increase.
Talos Island - Levels 31-35. Temp power: Endurance increase.
Brickstown - Levels 36-40. Temp power: Health increase.
Founder's Falls - Levels 41-45. Temp power: Life insurance (debt reduction)
Peregrine Island - Levels 46-50. Temp power: Regeneration Increase.
...in other words, exactly what you get, power-wise, on the villain side, if you've done the mayhem missions over there. However, I daresay that a lot of these powers are, at least at the lower levels, more invaluable for the hero side than the villain. The raptor pack alone should be self-explanatory (missions in the Hollows or Perez, anyone?)
Arena PvP in Pocket D - For those who like PvP, hate PvP zones and would like to match off against villains or heroes, here's your chance. Terminals and such are the same as for the Arena matches.
Also included: More costume parts and a freespec. Woot!
No sign of the sweeping nerfs of some of the past issues, although troller pets have been reduced a level upon generation.
